A pledge to be an agent of change and create a festival that leaves a positive impact on our desert home and beyond.
The everyday decisions we make have an impact on our planet and ecosystems whether it’s driving a car, using a plastic water bottle, or simply throwing away trash – it all adds up in the global carbon calculator.
Coachella continues to build off its environmental initiatives and launch new ones to account for our emissions, save water, and divert waste. We know there’s still a lot to do, and we remain committed to a future where unsustainable consumption becomes a thing of the past.
We can’t do it alone, join us on our journey towards a more sustainable Coachella.
Join the BYOBottle Campaign and bring your own reusable water bottle.
Please be considerate of waste bin signage to ensure a smooth composting and recycling operation.
Carpool, camp, ride a shuttle, or drive low-emission vehicles. Make sure to check out info on Carpoolchella below!
We provide campers with clear liners at the Toll Booth. Please use these bags to separate your recyclable bottles and cans from trash, and place them near a waste receptacle or at the front edge of your campsite when full. Remember to take all personal belongings when you depart to help us maintain a clean environment.
Turn off lights and appliances when you leave your home or hotel room.
We are committed to leaving a positive environmental legacy and engaging attendees in our sustainability strategy through five key themes.
We are committed to reducing carbon emissions by decreasing our energy consumption and increasing our use of renewable energy.
Our festival implements a comprehensive waste diversion and sustainable materials strategy to divert waste away from the landfill.
We are committed to reducing our water consumption and eliminating the use of single-use plastic serviceware.
We are dedicated to supporting local environmental protection, conservation, and reclamation efforts.
Read on for a deeper dive into each of these themes.
Festival attendees curate their crew of 4 or more carpoolers per vehicle to save on gas, money, CO2 emissions, PLUS decorate their car for a chance to win prizes. Read on.
Globally-recognized artists, scientists and activists meet on stage to discuss environmental and social challenges. You'll have a chance to join the conversation and create a Postcard With a Purpose. Decarbonize our power portfolio by:
New in 2025, Do LaB Stage powered by zero-emissions battery systems!

Encourage attendee and staff carpooling to reduce travel emissions. Make sure to check out Carpoolchella or reserve your shuttle spot now.
Coordinate on-site camping for roughly 35,000 people rather than driving to and from the show each day.
Track and measure event-related carbon emissions.
Use energy efficient technologies like LED and solar lights.
Except for recyclable cups, all food vendors serve food with plates, to-go containers, and utensils that are compostable by the local facility.
We donate materials from partner activations and items left by campers to local desert organization, Galilee Center. In 2024, we donated 79,120 pounds of material.*
We partner with Coachella Valley Rescue Mission to donate leftover food from catering and food vendors to community members facing food insecurity, collecting 56,051 pounds* of food in 2024.

Part of the festival experience is laying on the grass. When we irrigate the polo field grass to keep it nice and green for you, we use non-potable water.
To reduce the amount of water for irrigation, we are replacing areas of turf around the site with alternative landscapes.
We recently doubled the number of spickets in venue and camping, to provide water refill stations for both attendees and staff.
Eliminated single-use plastic water bottles and replaced with aluminum bottles, aside from select back-of-house and stage safety areas.
Encourage all staff and attendees to join the #BYOBottle Campaign and bring their own reusable water bottle.
Galilee Center is the official donation recipient of Coachella since 2019. The organization’s mission is to fulfill the needs of the underserved and disadvantaged by providing food, clothing, and other basic needs and to affirm their dignity with love, compassion, and respect.
Coachella Valley Rescue Mission serves local people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and life challenges through emergency services, recovery programs and community outreach.
